Lachlan Coote escapes NRL suspension

North Queensland fullback Lachlan Coote has been found not guilty of contrary conduct against NRL match official Grant Atkins.

Coote chanced his arm at the judiciary on Thursday night after falling foul of the match review panel for making contact with Atkins in the in-goal during the Cowboys’ Monday night loss to Canberra.

Had Coote lost, he would have spent a week on the sidelines.

The Cowboys will be without winger Kyle Feldt who pleaded guilty over a shoulder charge on Raiders skipper Jarrod Croker in the 80th minute of the same match.

Feldt is suspended for three weeks.

The Cowboys have the bye this weekend and will resume their premiership defence next Thursday night when they host the Bulldogs in round 20.
