Kingston injury creates Panthers crisis

Kevin Kingston has been ruled out of Penrith’s round-25 NRL match against Manly on Sunday due to a knee injury, leaving coach Ivan Cleary searching for options.

Regular rake James Segeyaro is in Papua New Guinea grieving the death of his father and is not expected to return until next week.

The Panthers confirmed on Wednesday that Kingston, who played in Segeyaro’s place in Monday’s loss to Melbourne, is not fit for the trip to Brookvale.

“Initial scans show a fracture to his lateral tibial plateau,” a club statement read.

“He will have further scans today to determine the severity, and how long he will be sidelined.”

Youngster Kierran Moseley, 19, could assume the hooking role in the Panthers’ injury-hit side as they seek to keep their top-four hopes alive.
