Keary, Walker out of City v Country

South Sydney stars Dylan Walker and Luke Keary have pulled out of the NSW City Origin side for Sunday’s clash with Country Origin due to injury.

Walker suffered a knee injury in the weekend’s NRL loss to Canberra, while Keary is out of the match in Wagga Wagga because of a foot injury.

James Roberts shifts to centre in place of Walker, with Blake Austin moving from the bench into the halves to replace Keary.

City assistant coach Brad Fittler on Sunday said boom rookie Luke Keary is 100 per cent committed to NSW.

The subject of an interstate tug-of-war between NSW and Queensland, Keary was selected for his senior representative debut for Sunday’s match with Country in Wagga Wagga.

Keary has attended emerging camps for both the Blues and the Maroons and while he was born in Ipswich, he has been ruled eligible to play for NSW under Origin’s strict new guidelines.

“I’ve only met him (Keary) a few times,” Fittler said.

“We were in a group actually and Luke Keary was there and I asked him… and he was very forthright in saying he wanted to play for NSW.”
