Kangaroos’ Scott ruled out for Samoa game

Kangaroos back-rower Beau Scott has been ruled out of their Four Nations rugby league clash with Samoa on Sunday with a hamstring injury.

Scott was an early first half casualty in Australia’s heart-stopping 16-12 win over England at AAMI Park in Melbourne on Sunday, which kept alive Australia’s hopes of winning the tournament.

The team has released a statement saying Scott wouldn’t be available to play the tournament underdogs.

“Beau Scott will be unavailable for Sunday’s match against Toa Samoa at WIN Stadium after suffering a low-grade hamstring tear in Sunday’s Four Nations victory over England at AAMI Park,” the statement said.

“Scott had scans in Melbourne today, and subsequently will not be selected for this Sunday’s clash in Wollongong.”

Scott will stay in camp with the squad and will remain in contention to play in the final in Wellington, if the Aussies make it.

Kangaroos assistant coach Craig Fitzgibbon said the remainder of the players were sore after the bruising encounter but no-one else was in doubt for the match.

All four sides remain in contention for the Four Nations decider ahead of the final round of matches, with New Zealand to host England in Dunedin on Saturday.
