Jennings accepts ban, out for Manly clash

An already depleted Sydney Roosters will be without Michael Jennings for their NRL clash against Manly on Friday, with the star centre to serve a one-match ban for a careless high tackle.

Jennings has taken the option of an early guilty plea for his grade-one high shot on Brisbane’s Darius Boyd in the Roosters’ win over the Broncos on Saturday.

The top-of-the-table Tri-colours have already lost prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves for the season (knee) and playmaker Mitchell Pearce for four weeks (hamstring) ahead of the Sea Eagles showdown.

Jennings is one of four players accepting suspensions with early guilty pleas on charges stemming from round 24.

Canberra’s Joseph Leilua, the latest player targeted in the crackdown on the shoulder charge, will serve a two-match ban for a hit on Gold Coast’s David Mead.

Titan Ryan James will be sidelined for a match over a ‘crusher’ tackle on Sam Williams, while St George Illawarra back-rower Jake Marketo will miss the Dragons’ clash with the Titans on Sunday for his grade-one dangerous throw on Penrith’s Leilani Latu.
