Injured Williams unavailable for Dogs

Out-of-favour Canterbury second-rower Tony Williams’ hopes of an NRL recall have been dashed by a hamstring injury that is set to sideline him for another fortnight.

Williams was dropped ahead of the Bulldogs NRL clash with the Wests Tigers earlier this month, but shaped as a likely inclusion against Canberra on Sunday with Canterbury without NSW State of Origin players Josh Jackson and David Klemmer.

“He probably would have been in the hunt to play this weekend, so it’s very disappointing for him,” Bulldogs captain James Graham said of Williams, who suffered the injury at training.
