History irrelevant for Souths, says Foran

Manly five-eighth Kieran Foran says the Sea Eagles epic win over South Sydney in last year’s final series won’t be an issue in the lead up to Friday’s top-of the table clash between the two sides at the SCG.

Manly fought their way back from 14-0 down after 11 minutes in the 2013 NRL preliminary final to win 30-20 and knock the Rabbitohs out of the title race.

Manly also emerged victorious over Souths in their round two clash at Gosford early this year despite being down on troops.

The Sea Eagles are within reaching distance of the minor premiership and Foran says what happened last year isn’t important now.

“It probably won’t get brought up at this time of the year – it is a whole new season,” Foran said.

“They are a whole new different footy team and so are we.

“They are fighting for points we are fighting for points. It will be a big game.”

Foran said he was impressed with the way the Rabbitohs have gone about their football this year.

“They have been very consistent this year, they are travelling really well for this time of the year,” he said

“They have a really good all round team, they can hurt you from anywhere. They are playing really high completion footy and getting the job done week in week out.

“It’s going to be a massive test for us, we know that.”
