Neil Henry says he’d be keen to bring Ben Hannant back to the Gold Coast if the ex-representative prop can’t agree a new deal with Brisbane.

The 29-year-old, a Gold Coast product, is off-contract at the end of the NRL season and expects to know about his future with the Broncos by the end of next week.

It’s reported the Broncos don’t have room in the salary cap to offer Hannant a new deal.

With Ashley Harrison already retired and Luke Bailey and Mark Minichiello set to leave the Titans following Sunday’s final round clash with Canterbury on the Gold Coast, a forward with Hannant’s experience is clearly an attractive option to newly appointed coach Henry.

“He could be available, it’s looking likely,” Henry told the Grill Team on Brisbane’s Triple M radio station.

“It’s whether or not we can fit him in the cap, the polar bear. He’s certainly a quality player and he lives down the Coast so he’d be a good fit that way as well.

“We’ll have to have a look at it. We’re losing some experience this year and we need to replace that.”

Henry was an assistant coach at the Queensland State of Origin team during Hannant’s period with the Maroons.

Whether or not the 53-year-old does recruit Hannant, he says the Titans are expecting “a couple of announcements” within the next week regarding new signings for the 2015 campaign.
