Hayne gone, Moylan gets Roos call-up

Matt Moylan has been drafted into Australia’s 24-man squad for the Four Nations following Jarryd Hayne decision to chase a career in the NFL.

Coach Tim Sheens called the Penrith young gun into the Kangaroos side after his impressive season with the Panthers, who fell one match short of the NRL grand final.

“We needed to cover fullback following Jarryd’s withdrawal and Matt has been one of the stand-out fullbacks during the NRL season,” Sheens said in a statement.

“Matt impressed me in PNG with the Prime Minister’s XIII and I’m looking forward to working with him in the Four Nations squad.”

Moylan’s inclusion brings to 11 the number of Test rookies in Sheens’ squad.

The Australians open their tournament against New Zealand in Brisbane on October 25.

The squad goes into camp in Brisbane on Friday.
