Hasler not worried about ‘lame’ citings

Lame.

The NRL’s Mad Scientist Des Hasler had a straightforward take on two reports that marred Canterbury’s 28-4 win over Melbourne in week one of the finals.

Hasler could be forced to rejig his side for a semi-final against Manly, with Josh Morris and David Klemmer both placed on report.

Klemmer left Junior Moors dazed after a high tackle, while NSW centre Morris wrenched the arm of Sisa Waqa in a chicken-wing tackle.

“I thought they were a bit lame,” Hasler said of the citing.

“J Mo will be ok. I thought he just had hold of his arm.

“Dave Klemmer’s was just a good tackle, a penalty would be sufficient.”

Corey Thompson (hip) and Pat O’Hanlon (leg) were both injured, the latter carted off on a stretcher in the second half and sent to hospital.

“I didn’t see it and by the sounds of things I don’t want to either,” Bulldogs forward James Graham said of O’Hanlon’s suspected broken leg.

“He’s been in and out of the team a little bit this year, he had his chance and I feel sorry for him in a football sense and obviously on a personal level.”

Graham held a similar view to Hasler when it came to the two incidents that the league’s match review committee will look at.

Billy Slater and Will Chambers were also placed on report, for kneeing Josh Reynolds in the back and a late hit on Michael Ennis respectively.

“It didn’t feel like a malicious game … four players being on report seems like a lot,” Graham told AAP.

“You can normally tell by people running in – normally that’s a good sign that there has been some foul play.

“I can’t recall anyone even going to the ref to say ‘that was foul play’.

“I can’t even remember either of them (Morris or Klemmer’s incidents). By me saying that, I can’t imagine there was anything in them.”
