Hampton re-commits to Storm

Promising playmaker Ben Hampton has signed a new two-year deal with Melbourne Storm.

The 22-year-old is set to take over the five-eighth jersey on a permanent basis, playing alongside Test halfback Cooper Cronk.

He and Ben Roberts have mostly shared the role this year but Roberts has signed to play with Castleford in the English Super League.

Melbourne Storm football director Frank Ponissi said the club was delighted to secure Hampton’s signature.

“We are really pleased Ben has re-committed to the club,” Ponissi said.

“We rate Ben highly on and off the field.

“He can play a number of positions and brings a real spark to the team.”

Hampton joins a growing number of players to recently re-commit to the club including skipper Cameron Smith, Jesse Bromwich, Kevin Proctor, Tohu Harris, Marika Koroibete and Blake Green.
