NSW skipper Paul Gallen says he doesn’t care if he lifts the State of Origin shield in front of a virtually empty Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday.

A mass walk-out of Queensland fans is expected at the final siren when the Blues celebrate their first series victory in nine years.

“I don’t care if there’s five people there or 50,000, I am looking forward to it,” Gallen said.

“I played up here a few weeks back with Cronulla and they were letting me have it.

“This is not just about me and these players it’s about all the coaches and players that have played in the other years before this.

“It will be a special moment.”

The Blues had their final training session for the game on Tuesday morning at the stadium with Queensland to run out for the final time at 3pm (AEST).

Maroons skipper Cameron Smith refused to encourage the home supporters to stay behind and show their appreciation for Laurie Daley’s side.

“I already have three children of my own that I have to tell what to do,” Smith said.

“I am not going to tell 50,000 people what they should or shouldn’t do.

“I have lifted the shield in Sydney before and I don’t recall too many packed houses to see it happen.”
