Former teammates come to Farah’s support

Robbie Farah may not have the support of coach Jason Taylor, but the embattled ex-captain does have the backing of former teammates.

A number of Farah’s supporters took to social media on Wednesday night after it was confirmed the NSW No.9 would be dropped to reserve grade for Sunday’s NRL clash with St George Illawarra.

“Now I know why David Fa’alogo put a couple on your huckleberry finn taylor, you deadset would struggle to run a bath let alone a footy team,” fellow 2005 premiership winner Bryce Gibbs tweeted.

“Absolutely blown away by the treatment of great mate @robbiefarah by the @WestsTigers !He took pay cuts to help the CLUB #ShortMemories,” added Tim Moltzen.

Farah and coach Jason Taylor’s ongoing feud runs back to the end of last season, when the 32-year-old claimed he was threatened with spending 2016 in reserve grade if he didn’t find another NRL club.

Farah, who battled injuries earlier in the year, has played nine games this season – albeit the past two off the bench.

He was also controversially rested after the first State of Origin clash, reportedly leaving him fuming.

The Tigers have won just three of the matches he has played, including the two where he came off the bench, while they are 4-4 in games he has missed.

However now-Cronulla forward Andrew Fifita also backed his former teammate.

“He’s a talented player and doesn’t deserve to be in reserve grade.” – Fifita told Nine’s The Footy Show.

Farah is still contracted until the end of next season at the Tigers.
