Kieran Foran has been stood down indefinitely by NRL club Parramatta due to personal reasons.
The Eels made the shock announcement in a media release on Thursday night.
“The Parramatta Eels have granted Kieran Foran an indefinite leave of absence to seek the best possible medical treatment regarding a personal matter,” the release read.
“The club will be making no further comment and request that the media respect Kieran’s privacy at this time.”
News Corp reported that star playmaker Foran has spent the week in hospital due to major concerns about his health.
According to the report Foran has been struggling to deal with the breakdown of a long-term relationship and hasn’t been at Eels training all week.
Foran will miss the Eels match against Canterbury on Friday night and is highly unlikely to play for New Zealand in the trans-Tasman Test next week.
The ongoing saga about Parramatta’s salary cap indiscretion and money alleged owed to him by former club Manly are said to have also affected Foran.
