Foran loves Brookie as much as us: Manly

No one loves Brookvale Oval more than Kieran Foran, the Parramatta playmaker’s former Manly teammates agree ahead of his first game against the Sea Eagles since moving to the Eels in the off-season.

Foran has spearheaded an Eels revival over the opening six rounds of 2016 after seven seasons with Manly, and they sit equal second on the NRL ladder after a 4-2 start.

The Kiwi international’s next test is to overcome his ex-teammates in Thursday’s clash on the suburban venue.

Foran still lives on Sydney’s northern beaches and holds a great love for Brookvale according to Manly winger Jorge Taufua.

“Fozza is such a great player, unfortunately we let (him) go, he is always playing hard and fast we just have to be ready for anything he throws at us,” said Taufua, who played three seasons alongside Foran.

“He is a very influential player on their team, he scored a great try last weekend.

“It will be good to play against him there, especially me and Stevie (Matai) who played so much footy with him so I am looking forward to the challenge.

“He still lives around here. I’m sure he is looking forward to coming back to Brookie just as much as we are.”

Darcy Lussick spent two seasons with Foran at Manly, before he moved to Parramatta for three seasons and returned to Manly for the start of 2016.

“He will be ready for a big game,” Lussick said.

“I am sure he likes playing at Brookvale and I am sure he has had this pencilled in for a while.

“We know what to expect of him and we are looking forward to it. He is a tough competitor, you know what you are going to get from him, he will be right up for it.”

Eels winger Clinton Gutherson will also play his first game against his old club Manly on Thursday night after his off-season move west.

Manly are 3-3 heading into round seven and sit in 10th place on the NRL ladder.
