Ferguson ready for Origin recall

Blake Ferguson is ready for a State of Origin recall for NSW, his Sydney Roosters teammate Mitchell Pearce and coach Trent Robinson agree.

Ferguson is being touted as a chance to return to the Blues side for next month’s decider, despite having played just a handful of NRL games since his sole Origin appearance two years ago.

Blues coach Laurie Daley has indicated he will not shy away from making changes to his successful Origin II side as NSW chase back-to-back series wins in Brisbane on July 8.

Ferguson continued his improvement in his second game back from a foot injury suffered in March in the Roosters win over St George Illawarra on Monday.

“He’s certainly ready for Origin,” Pearce said.

“You only have to ask him, he’s certainly ready.

“Fergo will be sniffing around there and he’s such a good player, he’s quality.

“I love being around him, he’s good for a team as well, so if he was to get picked he’s certainly got the confidence to deliver.”

Daley will announce his side for Origin III on Tuesday and Robinson said Ferguson would be up to the challenge.

“Fergo is ready, but they (NSW) will make that call,” Robinson said.

“There will be some speculation around Origin III, but I think all those guys who played the last game will play.”
