‘Devastated’ Falloon set for another break

Gold Coast coach Neil Henry says hooker Beau Falloon will be devastated to be back on the NRL sidelines just two weeks after coming back from a club-imposed suspension.

Falloon, one of five Titans facing drug charges, only returned to first-team duties before the Titans’ round three home clash with Newcastle after being stood down in February when the news of the cocaine allegations against him first broke.

The 27-year-old now faces another fortnight on the sidelines after copping an early guilty plea to a grade one dangerous throw charge from last weekend’s 24-22 win against Cronulla.

Falloon was hit with a two-match ban thanks to carry-over points from a similar offence against his name and Henry said it might mean the reigning Titans’ player of the year may have to look at his tackling style.

“He’s shattered … he’s had a real disjointed start to the year,” Henry said.

“He’s a real competitor and he knows that when he’s trying to make a tackle, he’s a small man against a bigger guy, sometimes that’s just the way the physics works.

“He’s got to look at how he’s tackling. It’s a dangerous position now and the review committee are really policing that.”

Youngster Kierran Moseley will return to the line-up in Falloon’s absence for Friday’s derby against Brisbane after missing the win over the Sharks due to knee soreness.

Henry said despite picking up the two points, it’s clear the Titans will need to improve against their rivals, who go into the game on the back of three straight wins.

“There’s no doubt we need to be a fair bit better than we were last week,” he said.

“Our completion rate is still not good enough. It was down in the low 70’s and the Broncos I think were at 88 per cent and only made five errors against the Warriors.

“On the back of three wins on the trot they’ve got a bit of momentum as well.”
