Des Hasler under review at Canterbury

Coach Des Hasler’s future at Canterbury will reportedly come under the microscope at a special board meeting scheduled by the NRL club on Friday.

Hasler is contracted until the end of 2017, but the Bulldogs are believed to be weighing up his position following a disappointing end to the season.

The Bulldogs lost their last four games of the year, including a heavy elimination defeat to Penrith in week one of the finals.

“There is going to be a board meeting on Friday and that is the main purpose of the meeting, to discuss Des Hasler’s contract extension,” Canterbury boss Raelene Castle told News Corp Australia.

“The truth of the matter is that we are still in negotiations with Des and his management and there has been no final decisions made on anything.”

Castle would not comment about any potential changes to Hasler’s contract, nor would she say if there were rumblings among board members about the coach’s performance.

Hasler, who joined from Manly in 2012, has guided the Bulldogs to two grand finals, both of which they lost.
