Canterbury squad players keen to step up

Canterbury say they have put last week’s explosive Good Friday clash with South Sydney behind them and are confident they have to squad to cover for the loss of five front-line players due to injury and suspension.

Coach Des Hasler has recalled winger Corey Thompson, prop Tim Browne and utility Chase Stanley for Sunday’s clash with St George Illawarra and the trio are all desperate to make an impression.

“It’s an unfortunate way to get a game, but I have to step up on Sunday,” Thompson said.

“Those boys have copped their suspension and people are now doubting us but myself, Tim and Chase have played plenty of first grade and can do a job for the team.”
