Bulldogs snare former Test prop Kaufusi

Former Australian and Queensland State of Origin prop Antonio Kaufusi has signed with the Canterbury Bulldogs for the 2015 and 2016 NRL seasons.

The move adds to their already strong pack which includes current Test players James Graham, Greg Eastwood, Josh Jackson, Frank Pritchard and David Klemmer.

Kaufusi will join the club after a year in the UK Super League where he played for both the Huddersfield Giants and Bradford Bulls.

The 29-year-old who was born in Tonga made his NRL debut for Melbourne Storm in season 2003 and went on to play 78 games for the club through until the end of season 2008.

Kaufusi has also played with the North Queensland Cowboys (33 games in 2009-10), Newcastle Knights (33 games in 2011-12) and London Broncos (56 games in 2012-13).

Coach Des Hasler said Kaufusi would bring substantial experience to the team.

The Bulldogs also snared the signature of young utility Matt Frawley from Canberra.

The 19-year-old made his Holden Cup debut in 2013 and after playing the last two seasons, is stepping up to first grade.

“Matt is an up-and-coming utility who we look forward to working with through season 2015,” Hasler said.

The full Bulldogs squad won’t return to training until after Christmas when those involved in the Four Nations tournament are available.
