Bromwich cleared by NRL judiciary

Jesse Bromwich is free to play for Melbourne against the Wests Tigers on Sunday after the gamble to take his dangerous throw charge to the NRL judiciary paid off.

Bromwich risked a week’s suspension by challenging the grade-one charge, in a bid to avoid key carry-over points he would have taken into the second half of the season.

Bromwich’s Storm teammate, utility Ben Hampton, copped the blame for the 34th minute tackle on St George Illawarra’s Euan Aitken in Melbourne’s 10-point loss on Saturday night, accepting the early guilty plea and also avoiding suspension.
