Biggest-ever crowd for an Origin match

A massive crowd of 91,513 has attended Wednesday night’s State of Origin II rugby league clash at the MCG – the biggest in the history of the series.

The attendance bettered the previous Origin record of 88,836 for game two of the 1999 series at Stadium Australia in Sydney.

Prior to Wednesday night, the second largest Origin crowd was the 87,161 who fronted up for the first match to be played at the MCG back in 1994.
