Big moments of NRL GF first half

Big moments by the clock in the NRL grand final between South Sydney and Canterbury at ANZ Stadium:-

1st minute – From the first hit-up of the match, South Sydney lock Sam Burgess clashes heads with fellow Englishman James Graham from the Bulldogs. Tells teammates and trainers that he’s broken his cheekbone.

6th minute – Lote Tuqiri thinks he’s scored the first try of the grand final for the second time in his career. However the video referee overrules the on-field decision after replays show Rabbitohs’ halfback Adam Reynolds struck Bulldogs’ fullback Sam Perrett high to force the turnover.

19th minute – Canterbury bulldozer Tony Williams puts down a Trent Hodkinson ball cold – his second error when the Bulldogs were preparing an attacking raid. Off the back of the drop ball, South Sydney receive their second penalty of the game.

20th minute – The Rabbitohs make the most of their field position with young gun Alex Johnston crossing for the first try of the match. It’s the winger’s 21st try of the season from just 18 games. Adam Reynolds misses the goal. 4-0 South Sydney.

23rd minute – Souths prop George Burgess takes first hit-up after try and suffers a head knock. Comes from field under concussion rule.

26th minute – Greg Inglis makes 50-metre bust from kick-return, beating several Bulldogs defenders in a weaving run.

27th minute – Bulldogs’ back rower Dale Finucane commits a professional foul on Sam Burgess. Avoids sin-bin but Adam Reynolds kicks penalty goal next to the posts. 6-0 South Sydney.

29th minute – Canterbury playmaker Josh Reynolds kicks a 40/20, but Josh Morris drops Williams offload to let Souths’ off the hook.

34th minute – Bulldogs hooker Moses Mbye has a set-to with Luke Keary, where he trips the Rabbitohs’ five-eighth over in a wrestling move. Goes unnoticed by referees. Bulldogs get relieving penalty next set when Josh Morris is tackled in air.

Halftime: 6-0 South Sydney.
