Allgood joins Hull KR in Super League

Super League club Hull KR have strengthened their forward strength with the signing of NRL player Mitchell Allgood from Parramatta.

The prop, who has signed a three-year deal, will add some experience to the Robins’ pack having made 70 first-team appearances with the Eels.

Head coach Chris Chester told the club’s official website: “Mitch is a big, strong and athletic prop with a good leg drive who will really add a lot to our pack next season.

“We lost a bit of power up front from last year’s squad but, with Ryan Bailey and now Mitch coming in, we’re really pleased with finding two high-quality front-rowers.”

The 25-year-old was also selected in the 2012 City Origin side and will link up with former Parramatta teammate Ken Sio at Craven Park next season.

“He’s a big bloke with explosive power but he can play big minutes so you get the best of both with him whenever he’s on the pitch or on the training paddock,” added Sio.

“He gives it his all on the field but, off it, he’s the nicest giant ever. Once you cross that white line, it’s game time and he’s in there 110 per cent but it’s important that everybody gets on in the squad and he’ll fit right into that.

“It will be good to have him over here, he’s a top player and he really looked after me at the Eels so, hopefully, I can help him settle in when he gets here.”

Elsewhere, Wakefield Trinity have signed 22-year-old utility back Jacob Miller on a one-year deal.

The Australian-born Miller was released by Hull earlier this month and has been snapped up by their Super League rivals for the 2015 campaign.

He made 20 appearances for the Black and Whites and is hoping to prove himself with the Wildcats.

“Wakefield have given me a great opportunity to rediscover my best form and this is a challenge I’m eager to fulfil,” said Miller, who moved to England following his release by Wests Tigers last year.

Head coach James Webster added: “Jacob’s signing allows us to have greater depth and competition in the halves. He is similar to many players that have signed for Wakefield in that he is a young player with a point to prove and a burning desire to cement a spot in the team.”
