2012 NRL Round 23 preview – Penrith Panthers vs Canberra Raiders

It’s has been frustrating season for supporters and punters alike when it comes to the enigmatic Canberra outfit.

They’ve won four of their last six, including comprehensive wins over Storm (40-12), Sharks (36-4) and last week the Broncos (28-12). The two losses however have come when the Raiders have started short priced favourites.

This weekend they are quoted at Sportsbet at $1.75 against Penrith’s $2.10.

Penrith got home in Golden Point against the Sharks two weeks back but were mauled by the Storm last week 46-6.

The Panthers have struggled to score points all season and outside of the Dragon’s have the worst attack in the comp.

If the Raiders can demonstrate the same attitude in defence as last week, they’ll have too many guns in attack for Penrith.

Canberra Fullback Josh Duggan displayed a return to form with two tries last week and the competition’s leading point scorer, Canberra centre Jarrod Croker, will be looking to add to his season’s tally and fifteen tries.

You always take a deep breath before tipping the Raiders but if they can beat the Storm, Broncos and Sharks 13+, the must be a chance of doing a similar job on the struggling Penrith.

Sportsbet, Raiders 13+ @ $3.85.
