Ricciardo goads Butler into post-GP shoey

Daniel Ricciardo’s post-race ‘shoey’ act has claimed another victim, with Hollywood star Gerard Butler goaded into sipping a mixture of Red Bull and the Australian’s race boot sweat.

The Scottish actor was conducting podium interviews at the US Formula One Grand Prix in Texas, all going well as he spoke to winner Lewis Hamilton and his runner-up Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg.

But it was third-placed Ricciardo’s on-stage contribution that will undoubtedly leave Butler with his least forgettable memory.

“So, I hear Mr Butler does not drink alcohol,” Ricciardo told a rapturous audience in Austin, Texas.

“But I believe he is going to drink some Red Bull out of my shoe, right now.”

Ricciardo’s pouring of the energy drink into his boot sealed the 300 actor’s fate.

“You have got to be kidding me,” Butler said before duly obliging.

“I hate you,” added a sour-faced Butler.

Ricciardo also convinced former Australian F1 driver Mark Webber to undertake the unusual post-race ritual at the Belgian GP.
