New F1 season cars soon to emerge

McLaren will unveil their new car on January 29 and Ferrari follow the next day as both teams hope for a better 2015 Formula One season than last year’s campaign.

“The new era begins. Introducing the McLarenHonda MP430. Launching online 29 January 2015,” McLaren tweeted.

McLaren start a new partnership with engine-maker Honda after a long partnership with Mercedes. McLaren won four straight world titles with Honda 1988-1991 with drivers Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.

The team finished a modest fifth in 2014 and seek improvement with their former world champions Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso, the latter back at the team after a first term in 2007.

Alonso joined from Ferrari, who now have four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel in his place along with Kimi Raikkonen, the last man to win the title for the Scuderia back in 2007.

“Ferrari will launch its Formula 1 car on the Scuderia’s website and on its digital and social platforms on Friday 30 January,” said Ferrari who managed fourth place in 2014.

Both teams will have their new car on the track for the start of pre-season testing on February 1 in Jerez, Spain.

The first race is March 15 in Melbourne.
