Mercedes driver Will Davison has continued his fast start at the V8 Supercars event in Ipswich, topping the timesheets in Friday’s second practice session.

The former Bathurst champion, who claimed the fastest time in opening practice, clocked a one minute and 09.9255 second lap to make it two from two at Queensland Raceway.

Davison pipped championship leader Mark Winterbottom (1:10.0856) and Ford young gun Chaz Mostert (1:10.1039) in the 20-minute session, the second of three for the day.

Winterbottom came third in the opening session of the day and has shown good pace compared to championship rivals Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes and Fabian Coulthard.

Whincup came 12th for the second straight session while Lowndes was 14th and Coulthard clocked the 17th fastest time.

The action concludes with a third and final session from 3.10pm AEST.
