Mercedes F1 boss Wolff badly hurt cycling

Mercedes Formula One boss Toto Wolff suffered multiple injuries after crashing during a cycling event in Vienna, the team said on Wednesday.

The Austrian suffered “a fractured shoulder, collarbone, elbow and wrist” according to a tweet from the Mercedes team.

A team spokesperson added Wolff was still in hospital in Vienna but would be in Budapest for Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

“We’ve decided to leave it to the pros now. Lewis (Hamilton) & Nico (Rosberg) are better wheel to wheel at 300 km’h than we are at 30 km/h!” Wolff tweeted.

Wolff is married to Williams development driver Susie Wolff, who tweeted a picture of her husband saying: “My husband the hero! As we know, boys will be boys…Looks like I am on nurse duty for the next few weeks.”

Ahead of Sunday’s GP, Mercedes driver Rosberg leads the Formula One world championship with 190 points, ahead of teammate Hamilton who has 176.
