Finn Jari-Matti Latvala leads Kris Meeke of Britain at the Rally of Portugal after Friday’s action was disrupted by a forest fire.

Volkswagen’s Latvala holds an 11sec cushion over Meeke, the in-form Citroen DS3 driver aiming to follow up on his win last time out in Argentina.

A second Volkswagen of Andres Mikkelsen lies third, 16s off the pace, with the German constructor’s world champion Sebastien Ogier only sixth.

The forest fire caused the second stage to be abandoned and the third stage cancelled altogether.

Saturday’s second day continues with special stages in the region to the east of Porto.
