Ericsson and Nasr extend Sauber stay

Sauber have extended the contracts of drivers Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr for the 2016 season, the Swiss Formula One team said Thursday.

“We are pleased about the extension of the contracts with Marcus and Felipe,” Monisha Kaltenborn, team principal, told the Sauber homepage.

“This early point in time shows that the drivers and the team are sure they are heading in the right direction.

“We have full confidence in the talents and skills of Marcus and Felipe.”

Ericsson, 24, is 16th in the drivers’ championship on five points while Brazilian Nasr, 22, is 11th on 16. Sauber are seventh in the constructors’ championship, eight points behind Lotus and two ahead of Toro Rosso.
