Caterham confirm Albers as F1 team chief

Caterham confirmed former Formula One driver Christijan Albers as team principal on Thursday, with a number of other appointments also being made.

The team was sold recently by Tony Fernandes to Swiss and Middle East investors and the changes were not unexpected.

Albers, 35, raced for Minardi and the Midland/Spyker teams from 2005-07 and is to be supported by Manfredi Ravetto as general manager and deputy team principal.

Albers had already been running the team on a day-to-day basis following the change of ownership. Other appointments include Miodrag Kotur as team manager and John Iley as technical director.

Caterham also said a number of employees had been released.
