Brabhams to hold UK memorial for Sir Jack

Some of Formula One’s biggest names are set to attend a special memorial for Australian motorsport legend Sir Jack Brabham in England later this month.

Brabham, a three-time world champion, died in May at the age of 88 and was honoured with a state funeral on the Gold Coast.

Another ceremony will be held on October 24 at Silverstone, current host of the British Grand Prix, to celebrate Brabham’s life and raise money for Kidney Research UK.

“He touched and inspired so many people’s lives that it’s only appropriate to have a celebration for his life for those who could not make his state funeral in Australia,” his youngest son David said in a statement.

The event will include interviews with a host of Brabham’s former colleagues and friends, including Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Frank Williams and Sir Jackie Stewart.

Brabham’s widow, Lady Margaret, will fly from Australia for the memorial, which will also be attended by his US-based sons Geoff and Matthew.
