Nyquist has stepped onto the track at Churchill Downs for the first time to begin his final preparations for the Kentucky Derby.
The undefeated colt jogged once around the sloppy oval under exercise rider Jonny Garcia on Sunday (Monday AEST) accompanied by a pony.
Trainer Doug O’Neill says Nyquist will have another light work-out on Monday.
Nyquist is expected to the favourite for Saturday’s 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby with the field announced later this week.
