News:

Almighty Girl is doing so well since returning from a break, trainer Mitchell Bell is looking to race her sooner than planned.

Almighty Girl gave Beer, who has been training in partnership with Max Hinton since December, his first stakes win when she chased down Secret Agenda in the Group Three Typhoon Tracy Stakes at Moonee Valley in late February at her third start.

She was then given a short break as connections set their sights on next month’s Group One Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide.

“She’s probably going a little bit too well, if anything,” Beer said.

“Our first thoughts after winning the Typhoon Tracy were that we’d give her a couple of weeks off and then bring her up slowly towards the Robert Sangster Stakes.

“But she’s just going too well and she’ll need to have a run before then.

“We’ll look to run her at Caulfield in the VOBIS Gold Sprint on Saturday.

“There’s a couple of other options in Adelaide, but at this stage that looks the likely target.”

Beer said Glen Boss, who partnered the filly to a fast-finishing second to Heatherly at Flemington at her second start and the Typhoon Tracy Stakes, would gallop her at Mornington on Tuesday morning before plans were locked in.

Newmarket Handicap winner The Quarterback heads the 29 nominations for Saturday’s $250,000 race.

Beer rates Almighty Girl highly and is hoping she can make her mark in the Robert Sangster at Morphettville on May 7.

“She’s just been an amazing horse to help kick off my training career,” he said.

“I think she’ll take us a long way in the next couple of years.”

Saturday’s Victorian owners and breeders race day features four $250,000 races and two $150,000 events, with the Listed $120,000 Anniversary Vase (1400m) is also on the nine-race card.
