Top-class G1 field for Caulfield Stakes 2014

A star-studded field boasting 10 individual Group One winners has been assembled for Saturday’s Caulfield Stakes, a race that will have a major bearing on Cox Plate markets.

The top four fancies in Cox Plate betting – Fawkner, Sacred Falls, Dissident and Happy Trails – will clash in the 2000-metre weight-for-age test.

The race will be a significant distance test for the in-form Dissident who has barrier eight in his quest to win beyond 1600m for the first time.

While Fawkner has drawn ideally in barrier four, Sydney visitor Sacred Falls will have to overcome the outside alley in the 12-strong field.

His Chris Waller-trained stablemate Foreteller has also drawn wide in barrier 10.

Happy Trails, backing up from an unplaced run in the Turnbull Stakes, has drawn barrier six while class mare Dear Demi has the inside.

Of the 12 runners, only Sertorius and Massiyn are not Group One winners.
