Tiyatrolani team after 2016 Champagne Classic result

Flying filly Tiyatrolani is an example of persistence paying off as she heads towards her first stakes race in the Group Two Champagne Classic at Doomben.

Tiyatrolani is raced by her owner and breeder Scott McAlpine of Eureka Stud who heads a syndicate that has had a lot of luck with trainer Tony Gollan.

They have tasted Group One success with the popular brothers Spirit Of Boom and Temple Of Boom.

And they are genuinely excited about Tiyatrolani who has won by big margins at Ipswich and Doomben at her only two starts.

It is a case of belated success for Tiyatrolani’s family as McAlpine and Gollan had high hopes for the filly’s dam Tiyatro, who cost $180,000 as a yearling.

“She (Tiyatro) ran a very good third to Spirit Of Boom in a Magic Millions Prelude and we thought we might have a genuine stakes horse,” McAlpine said.

“But it didn’t work out that way and we decided to persist with her as a broodmare.”

Gollan is far from surprised by Tiyatrolani’s ability after also training Tiyatro.

“She is different from her mum. She is very professional around the stables and on race day. One thing she has is a very good turn on foot,” Gollan said.
