John Messara has announced his retirement as chairman of Racing NSW effective at the end of the year.
Messara has held the position for five years, making him the longest serving chairman of the administrative body.
During that time prize money has risen from $118 million annually to $203 million with major increases in the provincial and country areas as well as metropolitan.
