Clarry Conners will be guided by Jim Cassidy as to the progress This Is Australia has made since his winning debut but so far the trainer likes what he sees.

The John Singleton-owned colt won an 1100m maiden at Canterbury on September 3 and, all going well, will take the step up to the Listed Heritage Stakes over the same distance at Randwick on Saturday.

“Jimmy is coming out to give him a solid hit-out on Tuesday,” Conners said.

“I haven’t done much with him since Canterbury and Jimmy will be able to tell me what he thinks.

“He is a big, gross colt but he looks really well and I think the Heritage is a winnable race for him.”

This Is Australia will work with six-year-old Didntcostalot, a short course specialist trained by Conners’ son Mark.

“So far This Is Australia has only worked by himself since Canterbury but Didntcostalot will give him a nice test,” Conners said.

“Jimmy will be able to tell us how he is going.”

There were nine entries taken on Monday for the Heritage including Alpha Miss who is also entered for the Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) for fillies.

The Gary Nickson-trained Alpha Miss finished second to Winx and in front of Earthquake in the Furious Stakes on her return.

Godolphin has entered Orujo and Shaumari for the Heritage while the Gai Waterhouse-trained Echo Gal, who finished down the track against the older mares in Saturday’s Sheraco Stakes, is also entered.

Conners also trains Dear Demi for Singleton and says the mare has come through her second to Commanding Jewel in the Let’s Elope Stakes in fine order.

“She’s super and on target for the longer races,” he said.

“Commanding Jewel is a very good mare and there wasn’t much between them.

“All is going well towards the Caulfield Cup.”
