Dual Group One winner Spirit Of Boom will carry top weight of 58 kilograms in the Stradbroke Handicap following the withdrawal of Buffering from Brisbane’s premier sprint.

Buffering was given 59kg when weights were released on Monday but trainer Robert Heathcote confirmed he would go for a spell following his third to Spirit Of Boom in Saturday’s Doomben 10,000.

Spirit Of Boom will carry half a kilogram more than the 57.5kg he was given to ensure the minimum topweight of 58kg for the Stradbroke (1400m) on June 7 at Eagle Farm.

Stradbroke favourite Srikandi has not yet been weighted but is expected to receive 50.5kg to 51kg on receipt of the three-year-old filly’s late entry to the race.

Rebel Dane, the equal second favourite with Spirit Of Boom will carry 56.5kg when weights are raised half a kilo.

Spirit Of Boom’s half brother Temple Of Boom, runner-up in the Doomben 10,000, will carry 56kg.
