Slade Power draws gate 4 in 2014 Darley Classic Field

A field of 13 has accepted for the $1 million Darley Classic, including Irish sprinter Slade Power.

A winner of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and July Cup at his two most recent European starts, Slade Power has draw gate four for one of two Group One races on the final day of the Melbourne Cup carnival at Flemington.

A noted barrier rogue, Slade Power is at the centre of a controversy because trainer Ed Lynam wants the sprinter to be the last horse loaded into the starting stalls.

Queensland star Buffering has drawn the rails with last-start Manikato Stakes winner Lankan Rupee to jump from barrier 11.

Up-and-coming sprinter Chautauqua has drawn barrier three as he steps into Group One company for the first time.

Two mares – Driefontein and Platelet – are among the acceptors.
