Sertorius scratched from CF Orr Stakes 2014

Sandown Classic winner Sertorius has been scratched from Saturday’s feature race the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes due to the expected hot weather at Caulfield.

Despite the fourty degree heat expected on the day Stewards are confident the meeting will go ahead “With the start of the meeting brought forward to 11am and the Bureau of Meteorology predicting the temperature to peak late afternoon, I am satisfied on veterinary grounds that it is safe for the meeting to proceed at this time,” Dr Stewart said this afternoon.

The scratching of Sertorius will see just six runners take a spot in the field for the race worth $400,000 after Playing God was scratched yesterday and subsequently retired from racing.

Moment Of Change is likely to start as favourite in the race despite having not won since September 2012 when he took out the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over the same course and distance as the Orr Stakes on Saturday.

Cox Plate winner Shamus Award has been well supported in the race and will jump on the second line of betting.
