Online bookmaker sportsbet believes saddle-hopping jockey Hugh Bowman has made the right move for Saturday’s George Main Stakes.
Bowman has opted to ride Shoot Out and sportsbet.com.au has opened the gelding at $3.80, equal favourite with Secret Admirer, for the Group 1 mile at Randwick.
Bowman had a choice and decided not to stay with his last start Chelmsford Stakes winning mount, nine-year-old Danleigh, who is on the third line of betting at $4.00.
“You have to respect Hugh Bowman’s opinion. He’s ridden Shoot Out in a couple of barrier trials and he said he was impressed with the way the six-year-old is progressing,’’ sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
“The horse must be going very well for him to jump off Danleigh, who was impressive last start and has a fitness edge. He could possibly rue that decision if the market is anything to go by.”
“Three-year-old All Too Hard, who will carry just 50.5 kilograms, has been kept safe at $6.50 against the older horses so it’ll be interesting to see if the punters think he can recapture his best.”
