Junoob has completed Group One doubles for trainer Chris Waller and jockey Blake Shinn with a brave win in the $400,000 Metropolitan at Randwick.

Replicating his Epsom Handicap quinella result, Waller also trained a one-two finish in the Metropolitan as Opinion tried hard to wear down his stablemate.

The winner survived a protest from Tye Angland, the rider of Opinion.

Junoob shot to the lead at the 300m as Opinion gave chase and although he was out on his feet the $5 chance held on gamely.

“I got to the front too early. I was left a sitting shot,” Shinn said.

“But full marks to the horse because he deserves a Group One … he’s been knocking on the door.”

It was a back-to-back Group One result for Shinn after he partnered First Seal to win the Flight Stakes.

Victorian stayer Araldo worked home from well back on the turn to take the minor placing.

Waller won the Epsom with He’s Your Man beating stablemate Royal Descent by a nose.
