Results: Brazen Beau wins G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes 2014

Chris Waller has trained the quinella in the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes as Brazen Beau defeated Delectation to lead in an all-Sydney finish.

Ridden by Joao Moreira, Brazen Beau ($8) came from midfield and finished off along the outside rail to win by 1-1/4 lengths.

Delectation ran well above his $51 quote to chase home his stablemate while the Joe Pride-trained Kuro ($6.50) took the minor placing – a further neck away.

Brazen Beau’s win has given Waller back-to-back Coolmore victories after Zoustar saluted as a short-priced favourite in 2013.

The win also continued Waller’s success with Moreira, one of the world’s best jockeys who plies his trade out of Hong Kong.

They combined for the first time to win the Group One Epsom Handicap with He’s Your Man last month.

Moreira said he was delighted to be riding on one of Australian racing’s most important days.

“It is such a pleasure to be part of this big event, especially if you can ride a winner,” he said.

“(Brazen Beau) gave me everything he’s got and he got there easily.”

The field of 16 split in two divisions but despite being on the grandstand side of the track where the placegetters raced, the favourite Rich Enufff ran below his best.
