News:

It’s A Dundeel will not race again with his owners ruling out a trip to Royal Ascot.

The four-year-old retires to Arrowfield Stud as the winner of 10 races, six at Group One level including Saturday’s $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Managing owner John Messara said the horse had nothing to prove by travelling to England in June.

“He has proved how good he is,” Messara said.

“We bought him for stud purposes and he has done his job.”

By High Chaparral out of Zabeel mare Stareel, It’s A Dundeel was trained throughout his career by New Zealander Murray Baker.

His only start in his homeland was his winning debut at Ellerslie in April 2012.

He came to Australia later that year and claimed his first Group One race in the Spring Champion Stakes.

The following autumn he won Sydney’s three-year-old triple crown – the Randwick Guineas, Rosehill Guineas and Australian Derby.

Last spring he inflicted the only career defeat on Atlantic Jewel in the Underwood Stakes.

Messara bought a majority share in It’s A Dundeel in late 2013 with his breeder Murray Andersen and other shareholders retaining an interest.

It’s A Dundeel will stand alongside leading sires Redoute’s Choice and Snitzel at Arrowfield as well as Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom who served his first southern hemisphere mares last spring.

His service fee will be announced in the coming days.

Dual Doncaster Mile winner Sacred Falls, runner-up to It’s A Dundeel in the Queen Elizabeth, has been nominated for the Royal meeting as has his Chris Waller-trained stablemate Zoustar.
