Press Report set to make headlines: Curtis

There is something different about Press Report that is welcome news for Lee Curtis as the trainer puts the filly on a course for the Golden Rose.

“She always showed a lot of potential but she was a bit gawky-looking,” Curtis said.

“This time she looks the real deal. She has trialled well and done well.”

Press Report hasn’t won in her four starts but there is enough merit in a brace of placings to have her favourite to make a winning return at Rosehill on Saturday.

Glyn Schofield, Press Report’s jockey in every start, makes a comeback from injury in time to keep an association that will be given every chance to make it to the first Group One race of the Sydney spring carnival.

“Glyn rode her on Tuesday and it’s all good. We really expect her to run well,” Curtis said.

“Hopefully she can get to the Golden Rose through the Rosebud and Silver Shadow, all going well.”

Before going shin sore, Press Report ran the best race of her career when runner-up at bolter’s odds to the eventual Golden Slipper winner Mossfun in the Silver Slipper Stakes.

“What she did last prep was pretty good … running second to Mossfun proves that,” Curtis said.

Press Report is a $71 chance in the first Golden Rose market released on Wednesday.
