News:
Black Heart Bart is favoured to give Australia’s leading trainer a sixth Group One success for the season.
Darren Weir, who has prepared 275 winners Australia-wide in 2015/16, will saddle Black Heart Bart and Sooboog in the Group One Goodwood at Morphettville on Saturday.
Weir’s five Group One winners include the biggest of all, the Melbourne Cup with Prince Of Penzance, who makes his return in the Robert A Lee Stakes at the Morphettville meeting.
Black Heart Bart is the $3.80 favourite in the Goodwood to give Weir a second Group One win in Adelaide in successive Saturdays following Howard Be Thy Name in the South Australian Derby.
After winning the Victoria Handicap at Caulfield in March, Black Heart Bart finished second in the All Aged Stakes at Randwick last month.
Black Heart Bart, who has drawn barrier two in Saturday’s Group One sprint over 1200m and will be ridden by Brad Rawiller, heads the market from fellow Victorian sprinters Supido ($5.50) and Under The Louvre ($7) while Sooboog is a $15 chance.
The David Brideoake-trained Griante has already been scratched after pulling up sore following a track gallop at Mornington on Tuesday.
