Paul Murray charged over cobalt offences

Trainer Paul Murray has been charged with eight offences relating to cobalt found in Group Two winner Alma’s Fury.

A bottle later found to contain a high level of cobalt was located during a routine inspection of Murray’s Kembla Grange stable in June, 2014 and stored race day samples taken from Alma’s Fury before his Apollo Stakes win in February, 2013 and the Doncaster Prelude in April that year were analysed.

They were found to contain high levels of cobalt which is prohibited under the rules governing substances which affect the blood system.
