Autumn the time for Nurse Kitchen to shine
David Brideoake is likely to resist the temptation of going too far into the spring carnival with Moonee Valley stakes winner Nurse Kitchen.
The three-year-old filly is likely to be spelled following her win in the Group Two P W Glass Fillies Classic on Saturday.
Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Nurse Kitchen ($19) scored by a half-length from the well-backed $2.45 favourite Sezanne with I Am A Star ($3.50) a neck away third.
Nurse Kitchen, by Savabeel from the Montjeu mare Flying Monty, was bred by former trainer Peter Moody and wife Sarah who retain ownership of the filly.
Brideoake said Nurse Kitchen was bred on staying lines but was a slow-maturing type.
“She showed us enormous promise from the word go,” Brideoake said.
“It’s a big effort at her third start to come out and do this.
“We’ll have a look at her in the next few days and decide whether that’s enough for her this spring.”
Brideoake indicated the major three-year-old staying races during the autumn could suit Nurse Kitchen.
“The Oaks races around the country would be logical targets,” Brideoake said.
